Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A Ugandan man was detained at Phnom Penh International Airport by the Immigration Police in cooperation with the Anti-Drug Police Department, as he was proceeding to board a flight to South Korea.

At 21:45 on February 9, 2021, at the international exit point, customs officers, who were checking the luggage of the passengers for flight OZ.739 to Seoul, found two bags of white powder hidden in a suitcase like drugs. A 43-year-old Ugandan man, JOEL MUGARWA was taken into custody.

It was discovered that the suspect was carrying a total of 1,922.90 grams (one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, point nine, grams) of the drug methamphetamine in his bag. The police of the Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Interior are dealing with the case.

At first the customs officers were amused by the way the guy's pants were down to his knees, then they decided to pull him up for some odd reason.

How was he planning to get past the eagle eyed Customs officers at Incheon? With less flights, they are much more likely to carry out profiling of clusters of passengers moving at a slower pace as they go through stricter immigration and health inspections. And PNH not being a major transit point for Uganda to Incheon, I wonder how he got his SK visa. My Indonesian friend tried to apply for one here and was quickly told that unless he had permanent residence or citizenship here he should get one in Jakarta.

Ya really gotta love that guy, no matter how misguided. Exciting, challanging, and James Bond-ish in a twisted way to have the kahoonas to smuggle that poison. I wonder if he'd be bothered by authorities if it was 2kg of potassium cyanide or even 2kg of methyl isocyanate.

Let’s see.... if we apply Cambodian thought processes to who should be stopped and searched, and given there could be the potential for a little side money to be made from any successful searches, I think it would be safe to assume they will be targeting anyone travelling from Africa.

Well ya know those machines ya walk thru? Those are very high tech, not only detecting metals in the case of guns or bombs. They are also chemical sniffers for explosives and drugz. So he was allowed to board with what looks like the carry on consignment, only to have the Cambodian authorities informed that a load was on its way, and to bust that mofugger.
