This is a good deal, does it cover any country or just certain ones?

I’m not disclosing what insurance I have, I’ll just add this little tale.

The first week that I was in Cambodia, in 2018, I ended up hospitalised. 3 doctors over nearly 3 years previously had treated a condition which actually turned out to be a symptom. The actual condition was cancer. Undiagnosed, because the arrogant twats were just that- too bloody arrogant to follow their own diagnostics.
It was a close run thing, with me ending up in the Royal Phnom Penh. My travel insurance covered it. I actually came out of hospital feeling slightly healthier, but a tad more miserable. It was only a short stay, which cost just shy of $15000. I was advised to get back to the UK for surgery at the earliest opportunity.

It took the following two weeks of my trip to find an airline that would authorise my repatriation with them. Thai, who were on the list of airlines that were used by the insurance company for such things simply never gave a clear response.
You want to treat it with a bit of caution when making the assumption that you’ll just get on a plane and head somewhere else. Especially in the current climate.

Can someone recommend a good company to get health insurance in Cambodia? I currently don’t have insurance but would like to have something so I don’t lose all my savings in case of an accident. Thanks.

As I mentioned on the previous page, I got a very good quote from SafetyNet. I haven't signed up yet but I will.

It's probably hard to recommend a particular company from what I've found as it all depends on your situation and requirements and finding one which is best for you. After going through the process in the last few months, I realise it is a very unique process for each individual and definitely not a 'one shoe fits all' situation. And I guess some of us don't have any claim experience to necessarily relate so it's a difficult thing to assess (but read the fineprint on policy conditions).

Having said that, I think this is where a local insurance broker is useful. Doc67 put me on to AG Cambodia at the Himawari Hotel https://www.agcambodia.com/ and I found them very professional and helpful. I mentioned in a couple of posts earlier my situation and that I ended up going with April (International) policy.

I found April to be very flexible with configuring a policy to suit me and well priced. The other thing I like about them is they specialise in Asia and have a local office in BKK which I would think is good in terms of getting repatriated to a Thai hospital for any serious condition (NB with current covid though, there's some doubt as to whether repatriation is possible).

The other thing is that despite the emergency number being April BKK, AG Cambodia's local number is available too to intervene on your behalf. Could be useful I thought.
