Chinese Man Found Dead in his Phnom Penh Guesthouse

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On February 2, 2021, a 45-year-old Chinese man, MEI HUANG PENG, committed suicide by hanging, in a room at Lavender Guesthouse, in Khan Porsenchey, Phnom Penh.

According to a 30-year-old woman, Soeung Pov, a receptionist at the guesthouse, on December 14, 2020, the Chinese man came to stay at their guesthouse and paid up until January 5, 2021, and then he continued staying. On February 2, 2021, at 12:20 pm, the staff knocked on the victim's door, but got no reply. Then they decided to open the door, and were shocked to discover the victim's body hanging in the toilet. They reported this to the police immediately.

The police went to the scene to examine the body. According to Dr. Norng Sovannaroth's report, the victim committed suicide by hanging.
The body is being kept at Stueng Meanchey pagoda until the family come and claim it for funeral preparations. RIP.

Hanging is a bit more subtle than shooting someone.

I wonder how much investigation into foul play is carried out, or is it just a case of cutting them down and ticking the 'suicide' and 'hanging' boxes.

If the person is of any interest the chinese gov will probably ask for further investigation. I am pretty sure that the chineses gov has its own people in loco investigating if they want to know more.
