Thefts in Kampot's Intl.Village/Andong Khmer/Tedab Village

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Thefts in Kampot's Intl.Village/Andong Khmer/Tedab Village

2 Thefts have been reported by resident Barangs here in the past 2 Weeks.

1. A BnB Guesthouse reported a break-in into a storage room where a pressure washer and a Lawn Mower was stolen
2. A Guesthouse in the vicinity reported a similar break-in where Tools and a Welding Machine were stolen. The Storage Room was accessed from a neighboring, abandoned ground and the roof (corrugated cement) was lifted.

In the past years (min 5 years) little to no theft was reported here and the ones reported usually concerned moto scooters that were stolen by drug addicts which were later captured by police.

At least they are stealing things that may earn them an honest living :)

A whole two break ins. Two.
There’s more expats and locals here that 5 years ago. I’d say population has doubled.

More exaggerated nonsense from CNNemm

Today a 3. Theft was recorded in the same area. Here again some Hardware Tools, a Generator etc. was stolen. It seems that it is the same people at work here and the Police has been notified.

Another , now 4. Theft in the neighborhood which was only discovered 2 days later. The Storage Room of a British Citizen who is currently in Britain and can't come back because of the Pandemic saw many of his Tools stolen. A Khmer neighbor who occasionally looks after the still to be developed land raised the alarm after he found the storage room broken into.

None of the 4 Victims have gone to the Police, just yet. The reason given was.....that the Police want's money before they act. The outcome unknown. If this continues the Thiefs will have a free ride.

PS:The Police Office in Charge is a small Office on the Road to Sihanoukville and the Police Officer there has built himself a very , very good reputation of stopping crime in the past. The last thing he did was to stop people that seem to party for month on end and keeping the music at stadium levels. Most neighbors said that the music came from rich , powerfull people and that there was nothing one could do about it. The Police Officer in Charge had a different view and lectured the culprits. The next night he simply took their Speakers away. End of the Noise !!

Unless I am missing a ton of irrelevant posts in other threads Emms posting on this one has been:

- Cambodian centric
- relevant.. crime is always of interest
- Detailed, with comments and information to add to the general information of the thread (Re: the police officer in charge and the incident with the speakers.)

I didn't pay much attention to the NGO abuse thread but I do recall Emm posted similarly detailed information with his comments with regards to the dubious nature of one of the guys in charge of an NGO who got caught fiddling the kids and the books.

Maybe I am more tolerant of irrelevant posts and simply gloss over them as it is, perhaps, in the nature of the poster to be like they are.... who knows? not me nor do I care as I can glance and move to the next comment.

@IraHayes

I believe people are annoyed with emm for some other post/thread, so now they are going to follow him into other threads to continue the argument.

I can't remember exactly what it was that he did initially. This topic I find interesting though, so I hope the arguments don't continue carrying over into other useful topics.
