Is it also exaggerated nonsense from the Khmer Times and others who have reported an increase in crime against Westerners in Kampot in recent years?

I don’t want to appear to be insensitive to your loss, but you really should pull yourself together and accept that it’s gone and it’s never coming back.
We know you’re hurting, but in time you’ll get over it, you probably can’t believe it just now but in time you will.
Some things are just not meant to be, that’s life, but there are other ducks out there, lots of them, and one of them will be the perfect duck for you, you just have to get out there and look.
Be strong

Not sure how long you’ve been here but crime spurts happen a lot all over Cambodia then fizzle away, often over KNY, CNY etc. Kampot has double the expats it had five years ago. The increase in crime is representative of a “crime wave”.Pintheshower wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 12:12 amIs it also exaggerated nonsense from the Khmer Times and others who have reported an increase in crime against Westerners in Kampot in recent years?

That French girl. Very rare. Never happened before. The spate of robbings. Stopped for now. Perpetrators apparently nabbed.
Lots of people (media) like to sensationalise events. It’s what they do otherwise there’s nothing to write about.
Keep calm.
Don’t listen to Chinese whispers.

The "fears grow over Kampot crime" article was published in July. The "Expats victims of violence in Kampot" article was from early December. Not during KNY or CNY.
There has been so much crime reported and deleted from the "Kampot Noticeboard" in recent years that a separate Facebook group called "Kampot Crime Noticeboard" sprung up.
Whaaa ? French girl being raped in Kampot "never happened before"? Never? Are you sure?
Belgian charged with rape and murder of French tourist
You must know that one was ALL OVER the news.
Stopped when?? Emm is posting in this thread as recently as YESTERDAY about continuing thefts.
I'm sorry, but the "Nothing bad happens in Kampot" narrative is very odd.

If people don't report crimes to the police, then nothing will be done about it. Constantly hearing/reading people say "don't report to the police because you'll have to pay them and then they won't do anything anyway"...load of bullshit! Yea ok, sometimes you will be asked for a little tea money to file a police report, but the cops do actually investigate (most of the time), plenty of reports of people having their stolen goods recovered, the thieves been apprehended, crime "waves" in areas ending...but if no one reports the crimes, then of course nothing will change.
Same happened with all those robberies/snatching in Kampot recently, no one would go to the police....it took Angus. W to arrange a meeting with the local police and convince victims to come forward so that something could finally be done about it. If the victims had gone straight to the police in the first place, the robberies/snatching would have ended much sooner.

Theft No 5 attempt last night 2am.
Rock was thrown through a glass window. The glass spread across the bed where a khmer lady was sleeping. shocked she got up and faced the culprit face to face. What a shock !
Finally today the group of 5 victims had the police come out and record all 5 thefts (the last instance saw nothing stolen for obvious reasons).
