Mother and Daughter Drown Trying to Save their Dog

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

this is just really sad to read.
Not so for Cambodians. Pets are tools, not family members, to most.
Like he said “to most”. If you believe otherwise your interactions are with a limited, and generally privileged set. Certainly there are those who love their dogs( and even cats, the horror), but they are by far the minority. They are almost never “animal companions” as said in the west.
I’m always surprised when someone new comes to Cambodia and comments on the number of “feral” dogs. I tell them they aren’t feral, those are someone’s dogs, they live outside. Our dogs, like shoes, don’t ever come inside. It’s just the way it is.
up to you...

Sad story. RIP to both of them.

I was kinda surprised at the story myself.

But there is a growing difference of views of dogs among the Khmer.

The stock village response, dog is a work animal, the the more western city response, dog is my friend.

BTW, I’m a cat lover. Missus is afraid of cats. She wants a dog.

.....So....2 deads, but, was the damn dog rescued at least ?
Suprised so many dog-man concerned people don't ask the elementary question of the thread.
Oh well. I guess we'll never know.
