Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A group of 7 to 8 gay guys drove a motorbike, one each, to gather at a dark place for sexy times, but they were stopped for questioning by the police on patrol, at 8:20 pm, on January 09, 2021, in Sangkat Chak Angreng Krom, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

The lieutenant Tek Boren, the inspector of Khan Meanchey police station, said according to the general lieutenant Meng Vimeandara, who led the patrolmen, that the patrol groups were looking for rowdy motorbike gangs and criminal elements when they came across this group of youths.
At the scene, a group of 7 to 8 gays had gathered for kissing and attempting to have sex in a dark and discreet place. The police stopped them for questioning and searched them for evidence of crime. Finally, the group was just educated to stop gathering in dark places, before being released to go home.

Nothing worse than getting caught with that "looking for sexy times in a dark place" look on your face.

When the report read "7 to 8 gays had gathered" was one guy dressed a bit more manly than the others which caused the police some uncertainty as whether there were 7 OR 8 gays guys there? Or is it more of a police innumeracy issue?

I read a funny statement either here or otof that went something like, "What's the difference between a straight and a gay Cambodian male? .........2 cans of Black Panther beer."

I don't want to come across as some sort of expert on these matters, but most gay men, especially of my generation (pre-internet) are aware that pretty much every city in the world has 'cruising' areas that are out of the way and are only known about by those that are interested. More often than not, this includes the local police. They're not quite as popular as they used to be now that there are 'hook-up' apps, but it's still a thing and something that's been around for centuries. So long as it stays out of sight and doesn't bother those that don't want to be bothered about it, it's largely tolerated, even in Muslim countries. I'd even go as far to say that they're even more popular in Muslim countries where gays have more difficulty... for want of a better phrase.... being gay.

I must say that the police were all very friendly and respectful, they even helped some of us book a pass app to get home safely.

When they walked you to the door and kissed you good night - did you ask them in for nightcop?
