I guess Bill Clinton wasn't the first with "Don't ask; Don't tell".xandreu wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:28 pmI have been told by gay Muslims (admittedly, no-one from Saudi Arabia) that it's not so much the act of homosexuality that is the problem, it's the promotion of it as a lifestyle choice, as it goes against Allah's will for every man to marry and have children. So long as a man marries and fulfils his duty in this regard, what he does 'on the side' isn't a problem so long it's done in a hush-hush, out of the way, not-in-your-face kind of manner. Although not being an expert in either the 'cruising scene' or gay Muslim culture, I'm just going on what I've been told.samrong01 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 6:59 pmFor anyone interested the hang out place in Riyadh is Riyadh Zoo as I found out quite by accident. To say it is tolerated may be a slight exaggeration as its the death penalty in Saudi Arabia for homosexuality.xandreu wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 9:40 pm I don't want to come across as some sort of expert on these matters, but most gay men, especially of my generation (pre-internet) are aware that pretty much every city in the world has 'cruising' areas that are out of the way and are only known about by those that are interested. More often than not, this includes the local police. They're not quite as popular as they used to be now that there are 'hook-up' apps, but it's still a thing and something that's been around for centuries. So long as it stays out of sight and doesn't bother those that don't want to be bothered about it, it's largely tolerated, even in Muslim countries. I'd even go as far to say that they're even more popular in Muslim countries where gays have more difficulty... for want of a better phrase.... being gay.

Not much privacy in most Cambodian living quarters, a lot of young guys live with family, and they don't have money for a hotel, so I guess you make do with what you can. That goes for unmarried heterosexual couples too.

The story is about gays meeting up in an isolated area same as us when young going to the park in our cars eg parkups, leave them alone if the cops know it's happening just keep them safe
