Officer Angry Over Lost Shoes Arrested for Beating Guard with Pistol

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Wow, pistol whipping carries the same gravitas as actually firing it!
Of course both cases would be illegal uses.

Does not mean the punishment would be as severe in both tho.

Hope the victim's head heels quickly but he should really toe the line, not be such a loafer and step up in his security role.

Sure wish there were some decent follow up journalism happening here. Only the sensational cases seem to merit that.

Cambodia News, (Kandal): On January 5, 2021, Mr. Thong Phalla Rainsy, Investigating Judge of Kandal Provincial Court, decided to detain Heng Kea Hong, owner of Sok Meng Maternity and Maternity Hospital in Kandal province's Ang Snoul district after he was arrested for violence.

It was reported in Khmer media today that the military officer, who pulled out a gun and hit a security guard in the head with serious injuries, was released on bail by the Kandal Provincial Court. So Sarin, a spokesman for the Kandal Provincial Court, told reporters that he did not know the details of the release. Separately, Mr. Chat Si Neang, Director of Kandal Provincial Prison, told the media on February 5, 2021 that the military officer was released by the court on January 20, 2021.

Please be reminded that this military officer wearing one star on his shoulder was charged with "illegal use of firearms under Article 20 of the Law on the Control of Weapons, Explosives and Intentional Aggravated Violence" under Article 218 Of the Penal Code, after he pulled out a gun and hit the security guard on the head, causing him to bleed on January 4 due to some missing shoes.

He owns the hospital? An army General and an owner of a maternity clinic. That's an odd combination.

There was a tower block built in Bangkok as a hospital. It was built by a heroin General. So we called it the Heroin General. I had my appendix out there in 1980.
