That may be so...I'm not a serial killer profiler..

However, common sense tells me that he had a unhappy, troubled childhood. Seems his father, an Indian tailor banged his shop employee, had a love child and then he deserted them. And as a siliconlife says his mother allegedly abused him for bed wetting. Then his French stepfather rejects him as not his own. And so he's neglected and leads him to petty crime and then upscales as time goes on.

I'd like to know more about why he despised hippies and drug users so much.

Maybe didn't dislike anyone in particular. Just crimes of opportunity.

From the wiki, and concurrent with the show, and other sources: "He had an intense hatred of hippies, and many of his murders reflected this."

In The Serpent, at one point he mentions that they represent a new kind of cultural colonialism to him. But I feel like there is more to it for some reason.

This Be The Verse
BY PHILIP LARKIN
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

I don't know if he did, he just found them easy to manipulate.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Kabul was paradise, I attended SF art institute ..
was that before you met charles sobraji at a party in Bangkok or after ?
A good place to first mention this, with scepticism hanging thick in the air.
I am writing up my story right now. Hard to tell the full15 mins in less than 10 pages,
I have never put it down before and i want set the scene, and put in a bit of the context and flavour too. I'll edit as hard as i can.

15 mins, approx 10pm, some street, Bangkok, approx Sept 7, 1975.
It will take a couple of days.
(and as usual, i'll swear on the bible)

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Obviously, but the reality is likely much more complicated. Charles was much more than just an opportunist. I don't think the motivations for his murders will ever be truly clear. Certainly the thrill was part of it as well, but I don't think that was all that was going on in his head either.
