Ma, look what they've done to Otres Beach..

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

very saddened, last time i was at otres it was still a dirt road to get there and along the beach and papa john was still alive.

pity

Was living there when the Chinese invasion took place. The number 1 saddest thing I've ever seen happen to a place anywhere. Feel very privileged to have experienced Sihanoukville before all of this took place and was completely blindsided by the whole takeover and transformation. Drone footage is very well done but I can't make heads or tails out of the locations in the video.
I'm the same can't work out where it is, thought I saw golden sands hotel but location didn't make sense, so maybe not, then started thinking it's Otres
Google maps it's Otres fucking hell

During the 1st few minutes, looking towards Snooky, you can see the small headland jutting out into the sea still, you used to have to walk up & over, when walking along to Otres from Snooky. The hotel there was called something Hill Resort (going just off memory)

Remember when they carved that huge new road out of the jungle around the headland, back in about 2016 or 2017 ?, after they rebuild the little bridge the year before. Little did anybody know that that was the start of the complete destruction of Otres as we knew it

I thought it was a Jack Ma reference.
