Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 3:14 pm on December 25, 2020, on the concrete road in Angkor Chey village, Snour commune, Phnom Penh, a young man was riding his Honda Dream 125 motorcycle to give a Christmas gift to his girlfriend, when he drove into an expensive Rolls Royce car, causing damage to the front of the car.

Fortunately, the young man was not injured and when he asked the owner of the car to pardon him, out of compassion, the Rolls driver said that he would not ask for money, but he instructed the young man to obey the law and not to ride a motorbike too fast to avoid such accidents in the future.

The above young man is named Mean Tangly, 20 years old, and he is from a poor family; his parents are construction workers, he lives in Tuol Pong village, Sangkat Choam Chao I, Khan Por Sen Chey, and as a child he used to live in a pagoda. The white Rolls Royce with license plate Phnom Penh 2AU-8888 belongs to Mr. Mean Sophorn, 31 years old. He is Deputy Director General and Executive Director of "Borey Leap Samnang" and resides in Angkor Chey Village, Sangkat Snor, Khan Kampoul, Phnom Penh.

That's very nice of him. I remember not so long ago when a young Okhna's Roller was side swiped by some drunk moron in a Camry who broke the lights. The repair bill was $120,000 or so. He started a Facebook vote about whether he should press for prosecution, damages etc and the vast majority voted that he was in the right. I doubt he pursued it though, no point in trying to get blood out of a stone.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Sorry to be cynical on the holidays but did this really happen? Looking at the car it is difficult to see that damage from a moto. If so the moto had to be at very high speed but the young man is unscathed. He would have been splattered onto the windshield or under the car Why is taking an xmas gift to his girlfriend relevant? He is poor (Yes, half of Cambodians are poor)? Where is the photo of the motorbike (there is always one)? I have no reason but seems staged to me.

Anyway, if real, as JB said, how does a one get funds to repair a Rolls from a 20 year old?

It would be very strange that someone with a car of that value is not insured, the many moto's I would believe not.

That's nice, a bit of Xmas cheer. No way the motorbike rider, would have the money to pay for that. A bit of human kindness. And on a side note, you could hang the roller driver on the Xmas tree with that shirt, bloody hell, he would only need a light bulb up his a***.,instant tree. 😁🎅🌲

Never mind all that. This is the real feel good story.

Years ago, a young Cambodian boy.......dreams of one day becoming a real estate magnate........and through his sheer grit, determination, honesty, hard work, integrity and unbelievable sticktoitiveness achieves his dream and rewards himself with a Rolls Royce at the tender age of 31.

This would be a perfect puff piece for the New York Times:

Cambodians lifting themselves up by their bootstraps and achieving vast wealth.

"You thought you knew Cambodia? Think again! There are more luxury vehicles per capita in the small capital city of Phnom Penh than on the famous streets of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills."

"Let's delve into the perpetual enigma that is Cambodia......
.........A curious country that claims to need funds from donor countries for basic infrastructure projects and aid programs......

..........Yet brags to its citizenry about how easy it was to whip together $30 million in Cambodian sourced funds......in order to construct a grandiose, Stalinesque ruling party headquarters, just last year."

"A country replete with countless gated communities and 6 figure brand automobiles choking the capital city.........

...........Let's find out more about this confoundingly disappointing place and watch them delicately balance between deceptively courting pity from the world community and flashing hubris to each other. "
