This is a part of our Cambodia forums to chat about anything Cambodia-related. This discussion forum is at the top of our site because it's usually the busiest part of the expat community chatter with random topics on just about everything, including expat life, Khmer politics, Cambodian blogs we have or have come across, or whatever else our members want to discuss. Whether you're an expatriate, tourist, Cambodian or random traveler just passing through South East Asia, you are welcome to talk about anything or start new topics yourselves.
That's the plan, at least. Expat Mitch in Siem Reap has been helping a Cambodian village outside of the city to be 100% self-sufficient by making enough money from the cryptocurrency TRON. It's being funded by Mammoth Corporation to get them up and running. They mention that they will make money from the 'dividends,' but they might have to be trade cryptocurrencies to make enough money to support a whole village.
It's being run by Mitch and a Cambodian woman who goes by the name 'Lil Cryptita,' and they made some videos explaining the project a bit more:
Well I guess you can make it work in a little village that you control with your crypto fortune. Even my leftover bitcoins that I bought for a few hundred dollars back in the day would go a long way in the countryside. But it looks more like a hobby to me than like a scalable recipe for development.
