Medical Supplies

Post by samrong01 »

I thought there may be some people who might be interested in my recent experience in obtaining drugs from India. It may be relevant to people with severe medical conditions who are paying out large sums of money for drugs.
Recently my doctor told me that I needed to get treatment for a medical condition and that if I did not I would die within a few months. The drugs are not available in Cambodia and my only practical option with all borders closed was to obtain drugs from India. Many people including me might be nervous about getting drugs from India due to the prevalence of fake medicine and scams. Below I describe how I was able to obtain quality drugs from a reputable company.

First step is to go to the website Indiamart.com which is website similar to Aliexpress but specialising in medical supplies. Hundreds of companies advertise on this website. Type in the name of the medicine you need and you will see a list of companies selling this medicine. Note that the medical export business in India is huge but is quite strictly government controlled. Companies can only sell drugs they are specifically licenced to sell. All kinds are available including very powerful drugs. All the companies on Indiamart are supposedly reputable but some are better and more honest than others.

You then request a quote from them. It is important to specify a particular dosage and carefully look at the replies to make sure they are quoting the dosage you asked for. Do not enquire without specifying a dosage. You will be swamped with offers. In my case I got a large number of quotes for the price of $125 per bottle mostly with pretty high shipping charges. However I got one quote at a significantly lower price of $110 and a fairly reasonable $30 shipping cost. I would mention that this drug is available from USA at around $6000 per bottle. I expressed an interest in the cheaper vendor but maintained contact with others as I wondered if they were cheaper because they were fake. I then found that other vendors quickly reduced their price to the same price which gave me confidence that the cheaper vendor was selling at a proper price and had in fact given me his best price first. One other vendor lied to me that EMS was not working to Cambodia then when I told her it was, said it could not possibly arrive in 7 days. Do not deal with vendors who lie to you. Some can be very aggressive.

Payment is by bank transfer and I was able to quickly pay using XE.com with no fees. A $4 fee is deducted by some bank along the way.

The vendor promptly despatched the drugs and I received them in 7 days by EMS with no taxes or fees payable. This transit time was possible even though he sent from and I received at a provincial centre.

The vendor I used was Vishakha Impex in Nagpur who I highly recommend. Undoubtedly there are many other reputable vendors but this is the one I have experience with.

I hope this may give confidence to anyone who might have considered buying drugs from India.

As an aside, a friend of mine in Cambodia bought a 100ml bottle of Chlorophyll from one of the health supplements vendor in Cambodia for $10. Chlorophyll is available from India for $1.50 per litre.
