Cambodia News (Phnom Penh) On the afternoon of 10 January 2022, a murder case that occurred in the year 2020 was finally concluded when the trial court decided that the accused was guilty of the murder of the man who lent him USD 300,000. He decided to murder the man who loaned him money, because he had no money to pay back the debt, so this seemed to be the only solution.

The perpetrator, 32-year-old Sok Heng Sambo, who was charged with murder, illegal possession and use of a firearm, was arrested on 22 December 2020, in Kambol district under Articles 29, 200 and 490 of Penal Code.

The murder victim was 45 years old Neou Chamnan, who was engaged in the sale of real estate, cars, motorcycles, and pawning objects of value.

The accused admitted that he shot and killed the victim because he owed him USD300,000 which he could not repay. The accused then decided to borrow a pistol from 40-year-old Pheng Sithol, his accomplice (who was also charged with murder), to shoot the victim while the victim was riding a motorcycle alone in a quiet place.

According to the confession of the perpetrator to the prosecutor before the Court, the Court upheld charges against the perpetrator and decided in accordance with the law. The Trial Chamber has set the date of February 11, 2022, for the pronouncement of the verdict.
