Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! There is no greasing of palms to choose the hotel you would like to be quarantined at. The hotels are allocated to flights by the MoH well before the flights arrive, it is all very well planned, organised and executed.
Why don't they let passengers know beforehand which flights go to which hotels? Is there any way for a passenger to find that out and then choose a flight that will go a better hotel?

If they are allocated well in advance, why is the allocation secret? Why not let people know so they can plan better and let their families know where they will be?

Everyone gets on the mystery bus and waits to see where it takes them.

@VascoDeGrandma just send an email to the Ministry of Health, tell them what standard of hotel and services you require, along with your flight details, and they will happily accommodate your request.

Is there a reason why they won't tell people in advance what hotel they will be going to? The secrecy seems not needed.

When you are waiting to catch the mystery bus, the staff will inform you which hotel has been allocated to your flight if you ask them.

The MoH don't know who's flying into Cambodia until they receive the passenger manifest, they don't know the passengers contact details...how do you expect them to advise people well in advance? Nothing to do with secrecy

Even those flying into Australia and NZ do not know which hotel they will be quarantined at until they arrive at the hotel.

When I said well before the flight arrives, I did not mean days in advance, the decision is made based on the passenger manifests - the MoH then allocates the pax to one of the quarantine hotels which has sufficient room availability for the amount of pax on the flight.

I discussed this with the GM of the hotel I quarantined at (twice), he said that they were only informed about 2 hrs in advance each time their hotel was allocated.

regarding the above;
are there ONLY the people from the one flight at the one hotel or
are there people, say that arrived 10 days ago an as people move out of the rooms, new ones move in?
so in effect u might be there 12 days and a new batch of people come in?
Are people able to meet/ but practice social distancing?

Or do they rotate hotels for each flight?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Based on what we experienced at the G-Mekong, I’d say the latter. The hotel refuted the suggestion, but went on to say that different groups were segregated by different floors, which I’d say was utter bollox.

Buyer Beware.
The system is heavily flawed, and influenced by some fairly corrupt and incompetent people.

We can (those of us who think rationally) come up with some basic common sense precautions that should be applied during such mandatory quarantines. For the most part, assume that no common sense is being applied once at the bus leaving the airport terminal, and you’ll hopefully not be overly disappointed.

@phuketrichard ,the latter. That is why guests are (supposed) to remain confined to their rooms to avoid "cross-contamination".
