Local news reports say that the parents of Duong Chhay are separating, and that he has quit the pagoda to support his mother in her time of difficulty.

Duong Chhay has left the seminary to return to his homeland, while the family story is exploding, says CEN News.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 2:20 am on October 13, 2021, on Russian Federation Blvd., about 150m away from 7Makara flyover bridge, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, a white Rolls Royce, (Cambodia Mr. IDOL), driven by an ex-wife of a former tycoon (Oknha) Doung Chhay, crashed into a concrete street divider in front of a Chinese temple and knocked down one street light.

After causing the accident, the female driver got out of her car and left the scene in a Toyota Vigo pickup truck. The damaged car was towed to the Sen Sok police station, waiting for the owner to turn herself in.
