In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Thailand can be heaven in one moment and hell in the next. I dont think that any of the other SEA countries offers a better package to smugglers and dealers.
work is for people who cant find truffles

There is a good series called 'Banged up abroad ' (UK version) - 'Locked up abroad' (Elsewhere, but same program) which is based on people telling their real-life stories of being caught for various crimes, more often than not as drug mules, in foreign lands. Asia and specifically Thailand features quite a lot in it.
Pretty fascinating I thought. The ones on YouTube all seem to be corrupted in some way. Probably better to download over torrent or something.

I read Bangkok Hard Time by Jon Coles (2012).No particular horrors about his experience. Mainly boredom.

I read this one. Quite a good book with some gory tales in it.

I think I read that also some years ago. Is that the one where he says it was better to feed your rice to the cockroaches and then eat the cockroaches as you get more protein that way? Pretty grim reading if it's the same book I'm thinking of.

^^^ Can't recall the eating of cockroaches, but I think that one of the prisoners had a cockroach farm in his ear.

Phil Sparrowhawk not only survived Thai Prison; he positively thrived in there.

Sensationalist propaganda for the most part, but access to world class health care could be improved.
I'm not saying Thai prisons aren't shite and prisoners aren't miserable. But you would probably survive it (and, with any luck, get another book published on the subject matter). Meh.

Thai Police do NOT give Farangs( americans, Europeans, Aussies etc, I mean Caucasians etc.) a beating! If you don't hit them first..... these are all B/S-stories.
Maybe they threaten you: you go inside, bla, bla, bla, but beating them up? No! Even they killed their Thai-wife, no beating! Believe me. This is 2020!!!
