Re: A Flock of Hornbills Show Up at Phumen Phnom Penh University
I've occasionally heard loud thuds on my roof but never knew what it was until I saw two of these flying away the other day.

Re: A Flock of Hornbills Show Up at Phumen Phnom Penh University
"Here's some great pics of this bird on Riverside. A friend of Mrs Cargo sent these to her after she posted the above pic on FB. From a balcony overlooking the river apparently." They are from a balcony. I thought you were adding some humour to my poor contribution.
That's them! They could do some damage. When they fly, they stretch out their neck. I was fascinated and chuckled and I'm pretty sure/paranoid one eyed me. I raised my hands and said, "hey, I can't even fly". My mother used to feed a Kookaburra in Oz (when you were allowed to), then we learned (learnt? sic, somewhere) why it was bad, she stopped and the Kooky smashed the window.
He took the house, we moved to the bush. (the rest was true).
Am I doing something wrong (I heard that!), because I have the comp settings on UK English but I am always pulled up for the "U" and 'S-Z' words etc; humour, specialise/ze, et al. It is not quite as serious as the current pandemic, but it is a little annoying. I'll call the cops, they'll know what to do.

I'd like to say thanks to all the contributors on this hornbill thread. Great photos all, and great to see the good (special) side of living in the Kingdom of Wonder.

Ha, that's one way of looking at it I guess.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 1:29 am I'd like to say thanks to all the contributors on this hornbill thread. Great photos all, and great to see the good (special) side of living in the Kingdom of Wonder.

Well I for one believe you, cause I once had a kooky bird and she also smashed windows and took the house.Pseudonomdeplume wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 1:03 am "Here's some great pics of this bird on Riverside. That was, in fact, a true story. Yours, not mine. Told my bird, last night, "we never have sex anymore, and we argue all the time... might as well get married".

Does anyone know if the oknha breeds these to release into the wild or do they stay in pp all their lives? Either way, props to that guy.

Re: A Flock of Hornbills Show Up at Phumen Phnom Penh University
from ^^^
Wildlife Alliance’s wildlife programmes director, Nick Marx told Khmer Times that he did see the great hornbills in Phnom Penh before but is not sure if they belong to anyone.
“There are not many great hornbills in Cambodia. There are some in Koh Kong province and I am surprised that the great hornbills have appeared again in Phnom Penh,” he added.
He said it is an offence under Cambodian law to own a wildlife species unless they are having them with the consent of the government.
Dearest Comrade Marx, you should be appointed Cambodia's ambassador to the United Nations with diplomatic skills like that.
lol
