Australia has demanded China apologise for posting a fake picture on a government Twitter account that depicted an Australian soldier murdering an Afghan child.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Beijing should be "utterly ashamed" for sharing the "repugnant" image.
It comes amid escalating political tensions between the two countries.
The image referred to alleged war crimes by Australian soldiers - murders of Afghan civilians and prisoners.
On Monday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lijian Zhao posted a fabricated image which portrayed an Australian soldier with a bloody knife next to a child. The child is seen holding a lamb.....................

What's fake is that there's no photo evidence of the actual murders, eh? China rubbing it in, I can't say I blame them IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE.
Re: Australia demands China apologize for posting 'repugnant' fake image
60 minutes Australia ran a story in the last week or so exposing crimes in Afghanistan by special forces.

On a more serious note has Twitter taken the photo down or even flagged it as doctored??
They hadn't when i checked this morning. I wonder why?

China's patriotic media continues tirade against Australia
China's patriotic media has again increased the vitriol aimed at Australia with an English-language editorial claiming that Beijing's "goodwill" was "futile" when dealing with an "evil" country.
The Global Times editorial claims that Prime Minister Scott Morrison "lost his manners" when he criticised the tweet of a Chinese foreign ministry figure for using a concocted image to take a swipe at Australia over its handling of the Afghanistan war crimes investigation.
"As China-Australia relations remained warm in the past, Chinese society did not find fault with imports from Australia," the editorial claims in a reference to recent bans imposed on Australian exports. "But now, Canberra implements a wolf-style policy toward China and has become the most savage accomplice of US suppression of China."
Showing little sign of lowering the temperature on the diplomatic language between China and Australia, the editorial describes Australia as a "warhound" of the US, and says the country "treats China's goodwill with evil."

Uighurs, 76 capital crimes on the books, organ harvesting, hypocrites.
The rest of the world should take note of china bullying little Australia.
Today the CCP said Australian military vessels in the South China Sea could come to harm curing freedom of navigation exercises.

Re: Australia demands China apologize for posting 'repugnant' fake image
I wish I could find the link to a news article I read yesterday coz it said it better than I can relay it but the gist of it was that in the opinion of a foreign relations strategist China carefully laid out a trap which the OZ PM fell into.
The point of the article was that the tweet was made by Lijian Zhao.. spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry. In his opinion, the PM Scott Morrison tactically 'lowered' himself in status by directly addressing the spokesman. As a spokesman, Lijian Zhao is not anyone of high standing, not a Minister, not an Ambassador or even the President. Morrison should be talking at his own level, so this 'spokesman' should have been responded to by an equivalent OZ spokesperson. Nothing more.
The other point he made was that this incident was also designed to draw attention away from the elephant in the room ie China's trade bans. It effectively deflects attention away from that and to the treatment of Afghanis by Australian soldiers.

They just passed a law allowing the government to block exports of anything they deem to be national security related.
