Eight Cambodian women tricked into working illegally in China are on their way back to Cambodia from Vietnam after the intervention of the Cambodian embassy and Vietnamese authorities.
According to the embassy, the women from Kandal, Kampong Cham, Banteay Meanchey and Phnom Penh were being transported to China via Vietnam. Four of the women are juveniles.
The embassy stated in a letter obtained by The Post on November 26 that the women were rescued on November 6 and 10 near the Bavet-Moc Bai border gate, 370 km from Hanoi.
Cao Bang provincial authorities sent them by train to Ho Chi Minh City on November 25 and they were scheduled to arrive around 5am on November 27. The Cambodian Consulate General will then escort them to the Bavet-Moc Bai border gate with Cambodia.
The embassy did not clarify their specific destination or how they were duped into leaving Cambodia.

News headlines always get more attention if the word '' beautiful '' or '' underage '' get thrown in. Those girls don't look like underage to me but would love to be proven wrong by seeing a birth certificate or ID card.

It's poor wording. I read it as "Eight Cambodian women, amongst them some underaged girls, .....". So they're not all underaged, but a few are.Cam.O'Dear wrote:News headlines always get more attention if the word '' beautiful '' or '' underage '' get thrown in. The second from the right looks underage to me. Far left as well. In fact, five of them could very well be underaged for all we know. Either way, it's a bit poor taste to question it. Do you think they're making up the underaged bit or what?

CEO Cambodia News translates news as they are written in Khmer.
If the original article says Underage or Juvenile (or beautiful), it dutifully gets translated.
But it does provide an interesting insight on how Khmer write news articles.

Aren't the borders closed?
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.

Why dispute this ? SOME of these victims are juveniles according to their identity papers, and trafficking is trafficking.Cam.O'Dear wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 4:13 am News headlines always get more attention if the word '' beautiful '' or '' underage '' get thrown in. They specify that the border is closed, but open for import and export. But funny thing the other day I was at my Khmer friends shop, when a full coach of people passed by, I said to my friend "I wonder were that has come from, he replied its returning from Vietnam.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Some guys here are a bit too keen to blame the victims, it's rather callous in my opinion.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 9:29 pm Why dispute this ? SOME of these victims are juveniles according to their identity papers, and trafficking is trafficking.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Why would you not dispute this. Do you believe everything you are told . Look at the facts, yes trafficking is trafficking but how many were trafficked. We all know that many females willingly go overseas for jobs so let's not come to the conclusion that they should all be lumped into the same category as trafficked, beautiful or underage . Anyone with an open mind would want to look at the facts not what you read in the news .Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 9:29 pmWhy dispute this ?
