Illegal Sirens Seized From Ambulance "Escorts"
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): In the late evening of July 13, 2021, the Phnom Penh police chief, Sor Thet, ordered all of the district police to detain the emergency ambulance coordinators who equipped their motorbikes with sirens, which cause public disturbance and chaos in Phnom Penh.
After the investigation by the city police, they found out that the emergency ambulance coordinators were a group of people without any legit origins, who received numerous amounts of backlashes and criticism from the public concerning their legitimacy of easing the traffic for the emergency ambulances, because this has always been the duty of the traffic police.
According to the police chief, Sor Thet, there would be no legal charges pressed against the motorcyclists, however, the illegal sirens were seized, and the group were formally guided not to repeat the same offense.

Balls of steel to be fair and a worthy cause - maybe they enjoy the thrill of the job - demographic of rider would suggest that. Like others have said, a nation-wide drive to educate drivers to pull to one side to allow ambulances through would be much safer.

I don't think it's the 'thrill' they enjoy. I'd say it's more the 'feeling of empowerment and self-importance'.Cambo Dear wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:30 pm Balls of steel to be fair and a worthy cause - maybe they enjoy the thrill of the job - demographic of rider would suggest that. The empowerment of riding headfirst into oncoming traffic and the self-importance of risking your life for others for no reward? That is quite a nebulous view, I'd say.The Judge wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:55 pmI don't think it's the 'thrill' they enjoy. I hate to say it, but I agree with The Judge. Those guys are a nuisance.
