Given Cambodia's positioning of full-on China support, and their deteriorating relations with the US and the EU, Cambodia better pray that the Chinese vaccine works as they are a very long way down the list of countries to be given a handout from both the US and the EU (or the UK, which is going to have one all of it's own soon)

Another problem is there are rather a lot of Chinese in the queue ahead of them.

So, with 1.5 billion Chinese, plus 750 million in the EU, plus 370 million in north America all ahead of them, plus every other country ponying up all it can muster for their share, I can't see much hope for Cambodia getting their jabs anytime soon and opening up and returning to normal.

Of course, the ruling elite can just arrange for their shots and, once protected, can open the doors up again and let the rest of their population take their chances.

You must live in an echo chamber to believe that everyone is going to line up for the magic vaccine. TheDanes just spent 9 days surrounding parliament to make it clear they will not comply. Most Germans have also made it clear they won't comply. And the idea that the Cambodian elite are going to take it without first testing it on their subjects, LOL.

The Danes did not surround Parliament for 9 days. Some Danes did. There are some people in every country against mandatory vaccination. There may well be a majority against it. I am one of them actually. But it is unlikely any government will try to make it mandatory, it just invites trouble. Authoritarian governments might, but that's another matter.

The reality is that most normal, right thinking people, will accept the vaccine and take their chances. They know there is a risk but accept that risk. Returning to life as normal is a big incentive. It's called courage, or stupidity, depending on your mindset. 70% + will do the trick and they will achieve that number with ease.

There will always be the anti-everything groups who will take to the streets with their mishmash of placards railing against Big Pharma conspiracies et al, but who cares? If they don't want the chance of protection then let them run the risk of catching it do it the hard way. I couldn't give a toss about them and nor will their governments or fellow citizens who did get vaccinated.

Governments will make it so difficult and unpleasant to not accept the vaccine that most will give up the struggle.

No Fly lists for starters. That will flush out most of them.

I dont think any country will be left out. Surely richer countries will be served first but it is in the general interest of the world to make the vaccine available to all. But on the other hand the world has not eradicated other more simple diseases with effective vaccines available for years. That makes me worry in terms of Covid-19. Only time will tell. Lets be positive.

The Khmer elites will simply fly to any country that has a widely available, proven vaccine and pay cash to get it. Maybe a couple vaccines each.

As for the rest of the Khmers, eventually the masters will take pity on them and send vaccine. Or western countries will take pity on them and send vaccine too. Of course the vaccines will be sent free as donations or aid, then distributed for profit. It is the way.

Since there is no mass internal testing, the mantra that the virus is imported will continue. Everyone will continue to believe that the country is virus free.

Freshnews, Khmer24, and Facebook will keep reassuring the public that all is well.

At least my prediction.

When mass vaccination is going on around the world and the Cambodian government doesn't step in to vaccinate they can say goodbye to tourism dollars for another few years.

On top of that, China will probably insist on (mass)vaccinations.

So I think you're wrong.

That Trump guy had the virus thing and recovered in 3 days... Remember?

So, obviously no vaccine is needed by anyone. It's just what they call "Big Pharma".

That Trump guy received a treatment costing more than an average Joe Sixpack makes in year. Remember?
