British Teacher, BARRY WILLIAM MOSS, Found Dead of Heart attack in Phnom Penh House

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On November 10, 2020, at 11:19 am, a 57-year-old British man, BARRY WILLIAM MOSS, a teacher, was found dead in a rented house, at street 174, Sangkat Psar Thmie 3, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

A witness named STEPHEN ARTHUR O’CONNOR , a 42-year-old Irish man, the victim's friend, reported to the police that on November 10, 2020, at 11 am, he left his house to meet his friend because they haven't contacted each other since November 03, 2020. When he arrived at the victim's house, the door was locked, and there was a bad smell. He unlocked the door and saw the victim was dead on the floor near his bed. Then, he got out of the room and called a woman named Noy Vannak to help him report to the police.

The second witness named Noy Vannak, a 41-year-old woman, a seller, said on November 10, at 11:15, she received a call from a foreigner named STEPHEN O’CONNOR, who told her that the victim died in a rented house. She reported the event to the police immediately.

After getting the information, the local police reported to the local prosecutor. The Scientific-Technical police, the criminal police, officers from the investigation and procedure department ( Immigration Dept), and the official autopsist then conducted a post mortem examination at the scene.

After the examination, the police team and the autopsist Dr. Norng Sovannaroth concluded that the victim died of a heart attack. The body was taken to keep at Teuk Thlar pagoda.
RIP and condolences to friends and family of the deceased.

Unfortunately living in Cambodia does seem very bad for life expectancy

Well its all in the statistics innit. It is estimated that there are around 100,000 expats living as residents in Cambodia. The worldwide average death rate is 7.7 per 1,000. That means that around 770 expats will die in Cambodia each year, which is around 14 per week. Given that about 4 a week on average are reported on CEO, it means that a lot more die than get reported, which is no cause for concern since not every death hits the headlines. But it does mean that the few we see here are just part of the greater average, so no, living in KOW is probably no more death-worthy than anywhere else. On average.

Out of them 100,000 how many are Chinese or Vietnamese. I'd like to see how many non Asian expats there are here.

A very very large percentage of worldwide deaths are people in their 70s, 80s and 90s.

It's rare for people living in the Western world to die in their 20s - 60s like white guys do in Cambodia.

Just learnt a new word reading this.
Never knew “autopsist” was an actual word.
Was alway under the impression that autopsies are done by a Pathologist, Medical Examiner or a Coroner.
Thanks CEO.

There are far less than there were a year ago. As an example one western embassy (which shall remain nameless) which tracks its citizens had 10,000 registered a year ago, now it has around 1,000.

Would that mainly be teachers scraping by on $1,000 a month with no savings back up when schools shut down? Has the vast self serving and unproductive NGO industry that supports Cambodia's economy also been affected.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.
