An election for “Bird of the Year” has turned murky in New Zealand after 1,500 fake votes were cast in favour of the little-spotted Kiwi.

Australian interference - again?
Megan Hubscher, Bird of the Year spokeswoman, said the interference wasn't the first time the election had been hacked. In 2018, rogue Australian actors attempted to pervert the course of the election with 310 dodgy votes cast from across the pond.
