How much does a Maybach cost?
Saw seven of them two days ago (different ones/I counted). They must be cheaper than I thought, so thinking of picking one up for myself...
They're replacing the RRs as the new "in" car, just like the Ranger Rovers replaced Lexus, and are now being replaced by Landcruisers(?). I remember getting a factory tour in Neckarpark aeons ago. What are they, $200k in Europe so like 400 here? I have no clue about the various models, so just curious about a rough ballpark figure for local costs.

For the price of one of those clunkers you can have 2 Teslas, the "in" car. But Cambodia's electrical grid probably couldn't handle a few dozen of all of those charging at one time.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 10:28 am Saw seven of them two days ago (different ones/I counted). I think they bring in the S400 4MATIC models, which were specifically designed for the Chinese market - engine size/import duty considerations.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 10:28 am Saw seven of them two days ago (different ones/I counted). In 2015 they were 1.43m RMB - $213,000. But that might be the tax inclusive price in China. It all depends on what the Khmer tax rates on that model.
A 2015 one is about $150k here.

I saw one a couple of years ago with State plates on it. An image that should be on the front page of all the NGO's websites and their fund raising activities.

I thought maybachs have a different badge, or is that just at the front?

Mercedes ditched the Maybach badges few years ago. Now it has only the word Maybach back of the car.cautious colin wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:34 pm I thought maybachs have a different badge, or is that just at the front?

I like this guy's videos, this one explains how Maybachs have devalued (The import tax to here must still be horrendous though?):
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Poor(er) man's Bentley/Rolls/Ferrari
Re: How much does a Maybach cost?
When I first heard of this car, I read that Rush Limbow drives a million dollar car called Maybach, then when I saw one in Bangkok, I thought, Like wow, man. But the I looked it up and they can be had for a measly couple hundred thou. And made by Mercedes Benz, then guaranteed to have not much resale value because they are notorious for falling apart. But most of these showoffs don't even think about resale value.

And most likely much more reliable.
Much of those features are on the S-Class, and many will simply never be used, such as rear headrest adjustment, rear window curtain etc. You'll be paying for the extra fuel just to transport them around all the time.
If I were going to buy a 10+ year old large Merc saloon I would not spend the extra on a Mayback. A fully loaded S500 will have all the bells and whistles you will need and the extra performance of the larger Mayback engine will never be used. If you drive a Porsche 911 you tend to drive it like a racing driver, when you've got an S Class you drive it more like a chauffeur. If have had both and I never red-lined the S-Class, it just spoils the whole point of the car.
The savings you will make on the S500 compared to the Maybach will pay for all the maintenance and fuel for a long time.
Re: How much does a Maybach cost?
Meanwhile in Thailand the Maybach S560, based on the S-Class sedan, currently retails for 17.44 million baht (US$560,000).
By the way an S-Class S560 costs 6mil baht (US$193,000)
