Bon Om Touk, festival of the Khmer kayak

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

Bon Om Touk, festival of the Khmer kayak

Post by SternAAlbifrons »

Training and local derby on the lead up to Bon Om Touk in Koh Kong, (2012)
same scenes all over the country in the few months before this festival.

"om touk" - kayak, and all other Khmer paddled boats

Let's celebrate the festival this weekend anyway, despite the official cancellation
and maybe widen it - Any stories or photos from on the water are welcome...

Phnom Penh riverside was packed last night. Loads of Khmer walking up and down the riverfront.

Just having a spot of lunch at Yi Sang restaurant on the riverside. The riverside is quiet, at the moment, but there was a few people clustered in the shady spots in front of the Royal Palace.
We walked up from Wat Botum park and there doesn’t seem to be as many stalls set up there this year.
