Bike Problem
Ok
So I should have seen coming.
But now I have a bike with no papers.
I will not go into all the details because it doesn't matter how.
But how can I check if it's stolen?
I have the VIN number and plate of course.
Can it be re-registered by a Cambodian?
Any help appreciated.

Re: Bike Problem
If there’s a plate it might be from another bike, ie stolen, or it’s got a plate but no ID card then you’ve no hope unless you know who’s name it’s registered under.
I know someone who took a supposed “lost ID card have plate” moto (2016 Dream) to try and get it registered and after they said he’d have to pay import duty (but he didn’t have the import papers) they confiscated it as it “might be stolen” and as he couldn’t prove it was his he lost it.

Re: Bike Problem
I'm just trying to find info.
Where can I search?
Have VN number and plate number.
At the moment it's parked up.
I can accept the loss, I would even hand it in, just need to check.
I rent anyways.

Re: Bike Problem
Old plates can be purchased, but unless you paid a lot, then just ride it in the meantime. Sell it for cheap when it's time to move on. The odds of being stopped are low. What kind of bike is it? They won't have any of that saved up in an easily accessible database.

Re: Bike Problem
When you say VN do you mean it’s a Vietnamese bike?
No issues. Just ride it.

Re: Bike Problem
Hi
So I have the VN number, the bikes ID that's on the engine.
And the plate, which I thought there must be a way to check?
I've never been asked to produce papers when stopped, which has only been about 3 or 4 times in the 10 and more years I've lived here. Just cash and maybe, show a Lucky Bike rental receipt.
It's a very nice, 2018 bike that I paid next to nothing for, from a family garage.
Thanks for the feedback

Re: Bike Problem
Ride don't stop and avoid the usual police places on monovong etc
Re: Bike Problem
Unless it’s a new type plate with those black square things you scan, forgot what they are called, then no.
Don’t worry about it.
