Suspect Escapes in Laos Border 20Kg Drug Bust

Cambodia News (Steung Treng): Border district police on patrol have seized 20 kg of illegal drugs that entered Cambodia through the Laos border. The suspect was caught smuggling 40 packets of the drugs at 3 am, on October 23, 2020, between border poles 034-035, in Bory Ousvay Senchey district, Steung Treng. The suspect managed to escape arrest, but left the evidence at the scene.

Lieutenant Svay Nhon, the local commander, requested all the soldiers to strengthen the security at the border. Major shipments of drugs continue to enter Cambodia from Laos.

The evidence was returned to Steung Treng Royal Gendarmerie to proceeding the procedure.

UPDATE
A photo from another news source appears to double the size of the drug haul from 20 to 42 kilos.
This photo from rasmeinews (below) shows what appears to be 42 individual packets of drugs weighing around 1 kilo each.

It's a volatile substance that ice stuff and it has been known in the past to sometimes evaporate in transit!!!!

There seems to have been a huge surge in drug trafficking or at least detection of it recently. Most of the busts involve meth amphetamines and to a lesser extend MDMA type variants and illicitly produced Ketamine (not pharmaceutical grade). It used to be rare to hear of even a kilo being busted and nowadays there are huge busts every few days. Much of it is probably just in transit but enough of that poison ends up here too. It's an unreported area, many truck drivers, manual workers and even farmers are bang on this shit.

If they have declared 42 packages I would imagine that two-thirds of that had disappeared before they counted.
