Australian CLAUDE SEBASTIAN HENDY Found Dead in Phnom Penh Hotel

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

As someone who will almost certainly die alone I have to agree with you, thought that was a very presumptive and unnecessary comment earlier. It would be nice if someone happened to be in my pad when I croak it but I'm a bit old to invite all my mates round for sleepovers on the off chance.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Condolences to you and the family. We translate Khmer news into English, and while we realize that some would prefer it stay in Khmer only, there are many times when friends and family are very grateful for us gathering as much info as possible to translate, as they don't always get satisfactory info from their embassy or authorities like they want.

Stairs like that in a guesthouse room are a bad idea.

I met Claude through a friend only about 6 weeks ago. He was a real nice bloke with good friends I only found out about yesterday when another friend told me what happened. He had the flue for a week that got worse a better friend that lives in the same place advised him to go see a doctor but he thought he'd be okay. They went to his room outside and rang him they could hear the phone ring but not answer so they called the lobby to open the door and found him passed only talking with him the day before.
Claude had a high profile job in the UAE he wasn't short on a quid or friends .
RIP Claude a lot of people are gonna miss you

Posting news of expat deaths is difficult, but it is a service connecting those of us in Cambodia. I learnt of a friend's decease on CEO last year. We would meet up every year or so. I considered the deceased as my friend even if we didn't see each other very often. I was glad to have some sort of closure as to why I had no more news from him.

As to the family of Claude Hendy, please accept my condolences. It is very difficult to lose the people you love when they are far away. I've been through this and I feel for you.

There's officially no covid here, as no testing unless you are flying into, out of or have had contact with a new arrival who pops positive.

once again ceo takes the wrong stand; is this really "newsworthy"?

I have said and will say, deaths should NOT be placed in the regular forum where the Search engines will index it and family will find .
put in a closed section..

dont try and justify it, please

RIP

I disagree, one of the only reasons I was able to hear about my fathers passing in KOW is because the news was shared in this way,
it wasnt done the prettiest way but not much in cambodia is these days.

my fathers passing made news on this forum and brought me here -where I now check daily for news related to my Khmer *step family
I used this forum to prepare me for my trip to KOW and I view it as a valuable tool for "Westerners" like myself to better understand and relate to khmer culture
