Chinese Woman, Alone and in Tears in Phnom Penh Street

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

It's why they invented bondage.

But I agree that the true story may be lost in translation. For example, who are those Chinese guys who just happen to turn up to save a woman in distress ?
There's a video that shows her being casually escorted to the police station, not sure if that was before or after being saved. Her walk is funny, can't figure out how to post it but it's on here about 10 posts down: https://www.facebook.com/WHAT-101876778 ... _todo_tour

Aha, the plot thickens. The poor woman was probably just lost and looking for the airport.

It doesn't fit the story...even if she have mental problem.
Have you been to Sihanoukville ? Many Chinese mademoiselles are less dressed than that at 11:30pm. O:-)

No, I not go there since it become Chinaville. So I take your word for that but in PP I not see like that before.

Anyway, from reading other kidnapping stories on CEO, these Chinese 'white knights' could be extortionists.. They say they help her, ask her for details of family and relative in China and then get money sent over. And they help themself.

..want to take her home and have their way with her.
(sorry, it was a bit obscure)

as seemed to be some bystanders response. also here.
I just don't get it - apart from the plastic tits and being a desperado and possibly deadly dangerous right now - she obviously seems to be seriously mentally disturbed.

To CEO members, please always bear in mind that we are translating from local news services and we don't always know if they are correct. We try to provide enough information for you to make up your mind on what is true and what is false, but sometimes we don't know either.
This is the same story from another Khmer news source; same same but totally different.:
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On October 14, 2020, at 11:05 pm, a Chinese woman carrying her luggage was crying on the street after getting her bag snatched at Choun Nath statue, Sangkat Chak Tomok, Khan Don Penh, Phnom Penh.
Image
The local people who can speak Chinese talked to the Chinese woman and convinced her to move off the road to the pavement. She cried and refused to go anywhere. She said she lost all her money after getting a bag snatched. She had only a passport left, and she wanted to go back to her country. She continued crying until the police came to question her.

After the incident, the police sent the Chinese woman to the police station to file a complaint following the legal procedure.
