non-US TIN

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. non-US TIN

Post by curiosity »

iHi folks,

I like to self-publish a book on Amazon. In order to sign up, they just asked me about my non-US T(ax) Income N(number). I have no idea what that is as I never had to use it in Cambodia. I only know that my employer pays my tax directly. So how do I find my Cambodian T(ax) Income N(number)?

You could try asking the Cambodian tax office

You probably don't have a Cambodian Tax number, because as I understand it there is no personal income tax in Cambodia.

As for Amazon, I don't have a book for sale on Amazon, however I do have an Amazon Affiliates account and had to fill in all their BS details before they would pay me. As a non-US citizen who doesn't live in the US, they don't deduct any tax, but they still need some sort of details to prove that they don't need to deduct tax from what they pay you.

Do you have a tax number from your home country? Any tax number. Mine, I hadn't used for more than 20 years, but they still accepted it.
Have a look on Amazon forums. Or try and find someone from your home country that has done all this before.
