Can most/all Cambodians read a clock a.k.a tell time?

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

Whether the criticism came from a troll or not the point was valid.
Explorer (who admittedly can be an awful bore at times) has been banned for doing what many others routinely do, including the mod who banned him.

If he has been banned for being irritating then just say it, but if that is the bar being set then not many will clear it! The reasons given seems to be disingenuous.

Khmer are not taught to read clocks in school.

Therefore most Khmer cannot read clocks.

Unless they go to ACE and actually learn how to read clocks.

Missus told me. She’s gone through the public education system (which most Khmer go through.). They did not teach clock reading at the time. Lots of locals wear fancy watches for show but pull out their phones to tell the time. She learned how to read the clock from ACE classes.

But she has a strange way of telling time. Instead of saying it’s 2:30 PM, she’ll say it’s 30 minutes before 3.

One example doesn't really constitute proof, there are thousands of schools here and many more teachers. I might ask a few locals myself, I have a rotary watch with only XII and XV on the dial.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
