Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Astonishingly reckless. If there is going to be a wave of infections here, this is exactly how it will begin. Actions like this deserve time in jail, regardless of whether they spread it or not.

And if they do happen to spread it and people die, it's tantamount to manslaughter.

Would be awful if there's an outbreak here. Even now the global trend in cases is still upward. We might be able to travel with restrictions now, but I get the feeling we won't be seeing travel freedom (like we used to have) before the end of next year at the earliest now.

UPDATE
The Hungarian man arrived in the country on September 13. His first test upon arrival was negative for Covid-19, but a retest on Friday was suspected positive. The Pasteur Institute is expected to confirm his result on Saturday.
[ It was later confirmed that the second test was positive.]
Authorities warn of a risk of community transmission.

Original story has us hanging him but test negative before travel, negative on arrival should be free to go quarantine at home, why were they hunting for him,or was he supposed to stay because someone on his flight tested positive.

Heard on Khmer news he flew in with his Khmer wife from France.

Not sure on the accuracy of the news, but that is what I heard.

So, he did everything correctly right up until after his second test, and when that returned back as positive they sent out the 'snatch squad' to get him. And he was out, probably like 95% of all arrivees after 2 negative tests (airport and pre travel) and a third and final test.

I bet he had a very nasty surprise when they caught up with him.

It still doesn't explain how or where he got it. After two negative tests, suddenly a third turns up positive? That's the story here. It points to him contracting it here as much as on the plane here. He could of caught it at the testing centre while waiting to get the 3rd test! Or the test, which is very sensitive, threw up a false positive. His wife has just tested negative too.

I would not be calling for a public execution just yet.
