Truck Driver Kills Driver and Passenger in Horror Tuktuk Smash

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On September 15, 2020, at 9:45 pm, a fatal accident between a truck and a tuk-tuk killed two people on Hanoi road, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmiem, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh. The victims were identified as Mum Sao, a 49-year-old man, a tuk-tuk driver, and Meas Saly, a 25-year-old woman passenger. The truck driver was arrested.

Before the incident, the tuk-tuk drove in the direction from south to north on Hanoi road, until it stopped behind a car waiting for the traffic light. Suddenly, a truck crashed the tuk-tuk from behind, smashing it into the car in front of the tuk-tuk.
After that, the truck driver speeded up, trying to escape, but the tuk-tuk was stuck, squashed on to the front of truck. The tuk-tuk driver and the young woman who was a passenger died at the scene.

After the incident, the truck driver was arrested. The police checked the accident and took the evidence to keep at the police station, waiting to sort the problem out by the legal procedure. The bodies were taken to keep at Teuk Thlar pagoda, waiting for the family to hand over for the funeral preparation.

Update: The driver who caused the road accident that resulted in two deaths on the evening of 13 September 2020 was sent to court.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Moeun Chak, a 36-year-old male truck driver, who is accused of causing the deaths of two people in a tuktuk, was sent to court this afternoon.

Colonel Sem Ratana, Director of the Office of Road Traffic, confirmed that on the afternoon of Monday, September 14, 2020, under the direct command of Lt. Gen. Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police and with the approval of the Prosecutor of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, Moeun Chak, was sent before the Phnom Penh court at 14:30 on September 14, 2020 to follow legal procedures.

The suspect has been charged with causing the death of two people, a male tuktuk driver and a 25-year-old woman passenger, at 22:10 on September 13, 2020 at the intersection of Street 1019 and Mong Rithy Street, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.
