Sleeping Farmer Run Over on Train Tracks in Takeo
Cambodia news, Takeo: A man was killed by a train while he was sleeping on the railway tracks in Russey Doch village, Ang Keo commune, Traing district, Takeo province, on September 9, 2020.
The victim was Chhil Ron, 63, a farmer living in Ang Keo village, Ang Keo commune, Traing district, Takeo province .
Prior to the accident, it seems that the victim was walking home, but went to have a sleep on the railway tracks close to Ang Keo pagoda. Unfortunately, while he was sleeping, a train was driving along the tracks from south to north and victim died instantly at the scene when he was hit by the train.
It is not sure whether the train driver noticed the accident because he did not stop the train and continued to drive away.
The body of the victim was handed over to the family for the traditional ceremony.

I wonder what the total is up to date on this type of unfortunate accident, more education needed about the dangers of the railway. Obviously the train driver did not realise, or the article would have read - A man was killed by a train while he was sleeping on the railway tracks RIP, police are still looking for the responsible train driver, because he ran away from the scene of the accident.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Just ridiculous driving a train at night when people are trying to sleep
Should only be allowed during the day

Why not sleep next to the train tracks

A few thoughts spring to mind (Mainly, idle musing in the early hours before I go screaming around the skies delivering ten tonnes of rubber dogshit and dildos)
1. How do they know he was sleeping? Was he really sleeping, Was there a witness, camera footage? Or simply lying down on the tracks?
2. Sleeping...is this a translation issue, based on colloquialism? I’ve noticed more than a few times that SWMBO and friends/family tend to use the same word in different context to mean different things. Often, where a more correct term or phrase actually exists
A simple example being- ភ្លើង phleung. Fire. Commonly used to describe lights and electricity, despite there being terms for both.
3. I’ve not really thought to try it out, but at first glance, it doesn’t seem that comfortable a place to sleep.
As I said, idle musings.

Without looking the original I guess it could mean lying down or sleeping.Freightdog wrote:A few thoughts spring to mind (Mainly, idle musing in the early hours before I go screaming around the skies delivering ten tonnes of rubber dogshit and dildos)

But doesn't make much sense for anyone to be lying down or sleeping on train tracks. The trains here don't move that quickly, Surely the vibrations would wake them unless they were comatose drunk.

Iron pillow, leaden sleep...

That or suicide seem the only logical conclusions to me.khmerhamster wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:57 am The trains here don't move that quickly, Surely the vibrations would wake them unless they were comatose drunk.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Seen so many reports of people dying on the tracks since trains started running down to Snooky 4-5 years ago
