Horrific incident, it's scary how frequent these types of attacks and murders are becoming.
As for availability of acid; there are a lot of legitimate industry uses for various strong acids, so they're often available at supply stores. Failing that a car battery is full of sulphuric acid and easily purchasable by pretty much anyone (though a lot more pricey).

Motorcycle battery shops, rubber plantations and goldsmiths all use concentrated acids. There is a Sub-Decree from 2013 requiring them not to sell it, and to record the IDs of everyone who buys diluted acid, but it is rarely followed or enforced, particularly outside Phnom Penh.

It's getting a bit heavy, so many of these horrific cases recently. Maybe the effects of the shrinking economy, called in depts and general pressure are becoming apparent. Batten down your hatches.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I've been thinking this too and extent to which this is due to indirect impacts of Wuhan virus..loss of jobs and income and the pressure that is putting on families and relationships.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 7:05 pm It's getting a bit heavy, so many of these horrific cases recently. I had an attempted burglary a few months ago...first time in 4 years at this property...coincidence or not? And in the Riverside area there's are lot more homeless sleeping in the streets. Also, lately a lot more freelancers plying their trade and sadly seeing a lot more gangs of kids walking around in the area unaccompanied by parents...disturbing trend. Anecdotally heard of more jewelry/phone snatchings too..
I suppose we shouldn't be totally surprised given the situation here..
Anyway, I hope this animal gets locked away for a very, very long time after what he's done to this poor lady.
Re: Man Arrested for Cutting Off a Woman's Hand and Throwing Acid on Her
I personally believe this surge of violence is due to the pressures that the Wuhan flu has created, it's going to get worse in the coming years when debts start being collected, whether its personal debts or national debts that nations brought on by being apart of the belt and road initiative.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 7:24 pmI've been thinking this too and extent to which this is due to indirect impacts of Wuhan virus..loss of jobs and income and the pressure that is putting on families and relationships.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 7:05 pm It's getting a bit heavy, so many of these horrific cases recently. I'm not saying that the recent pandemic and economic crisis is not creating social problems, because I think that it is for sure , BUT this case dates back to Feb 2020, so whatever the man's problems, it's unlikely that they were linked to the current coronavirus pandemic.

I'd handcuff the guy, give the woman a hatchet and a litre of strong acid, and leave her to it with that scum.
