Warning: Boy Badly Blistered by Jellyfish at Kep Beach

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Looks like a Box jellyfish sting to me, lucky it was only on his arm if was across his abdomen and chest as well he could have gone into cardiac arrest.

We have "stinger net" swimming enclosures on the beaches here in North QLD from November to May due to the high numbers that swim along the shallow warm coastal waters, The box jelly fish are actually a purposeful swimmer unlike most jellyfish that just float where the currents take them.

The most dangerous marine stingers found in Queensland waters are the Box Jellyfish and Irukandji Jellyfish.

I sent the pictures to a friend who is Director of the Tropical Stinger Research Unit in Cairns Australia

He said it was a box jellyfish without doubt.

“ It will be Chironex sp. Some debate about the species in that area as no one has really done the work on it.”

Certainly very painful and potentially life threatening

was out in the water the other day an was stung again., both upper legs,
hurt like hell for about 2 hours,
still had the red marks 2 days later.

Guess its the price of being in the water 6 days a week

Ouch! Jellyfish attack.
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): According to a Facebook post by Sreymom Meng, she said that she was stung by jellyfish while swimming in the sea during the holidays on April 15, 2022.
The victim's daughter, Ma Ny, said that the victim had just gone into the ocean and then had her left arm stung multiple times by the tentacles of a jellyfish.
