Drunk Takes his Lexus for a Swim at Koh Pich (Car Swimming Thread)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Western road crews would put up barriers on both sides of the road to prevent or at least give a visual clue where the road ends. Cambodia road crews see that as an option, not a requirement.

Please drive safely!

Well, if Cambodia was a developed western country they probably would wouldn't they? But it's not is it? Either developed or Western. And as an underdeveloped country it may not even be an option as you call it.

You like to put Cambodia down don't you? Do you share these thoughts with your missus? I'm sure she'd appreciate your smugness..

Drunk man drives a Highlander into a swamp
Image
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 1 am on February 27, 2023, in Sangkat Choam Chao II, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, local residents were surprised to see a man driving a Highlander car which swerved off the dirt road and plunged into a canal full of water.
Image
The white Highlander car with no license plate, driven by a drunk man, was seen traveling along a dirt road from east to west at a medium speed, when the vehicle abruptly steered to the right into the roadside swamp. The car was submerged in the water, but the driver managed to open the door and make his way to dry land, where he called his family to come to the scene to pick him up.
Image
Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the accident, and since the local authorities were not present at the scene, the owner of the car contacted the crane to come and lift the car out of the canal to take it away for repairs.
