The sunken warship has been recovered from the river in Srey Santhor district, Kampong Cham province.
Cambodia News, (Kampong Cham Province): Mr. Un Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham Province, and Mr. Khlot Phorn, Chairman of Provincial Council, on the morning of April 7, 2021, accompanied by General Neang Phat, Permanent Secretary of State, and the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group in inspecting unexploded ordnance in the warship that sank during the 1970-75 war and was cleared by munitions clearance forces.

UXO removal from Mekong River to be completed as soon as possible
Interior Minister Sar Kheng yesterday urged the Underwater Explosive Ordnance Disposal Joint Working Group to accelerate the collection of unexploded ordnance and retrieve sunken warships from the bottom of the Mekong River as soon as possible to ensure the safety of the public.
Kheng said that all unexploded ordnance must be collected and all sunken ships removed from the bottom of the Mekong River to ensure the safety of the passengers, fishermen and other businesses people along the Mekong River.
He said that although the work has not been completed, the removals so far have been successful.
General Neang Phath, chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group, said that the operation to clear underwater unexploded ordnance and retrieve the sunken ships has three sites.
The first site is located in Srei Santhor district’s Meanchey commune in Kampong Cham province.
The second site is in Lvea Em district’s Boeng Krum commune in Kandal province and the third site is in Mok Kampoul district’s Prek Dambang commune also in Kandal province.
Gen Phath said that the cooperation at the three sites was from October 3, 2020 until April 7, 2021 and was successfully completed.
He went to say that during the operation, the Underwater Explosive Ordnance Disposal Joint Working Group recovered more than 16 tonnes of unexploded ordnance, a warship and some ammunition.
