Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): The Cambodian police collaborated with international forces, the Chinese customs , UNODC organization in Thailand, and the General Secretariat of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, to crack down on a plan to smuggle 185.02 kgs of methamphetamine to Taiwan disguised as furniture.

On July 19, 2020, the national customs guard collaborated with national police in a crack down on drug trafficking which lead to the arrest of a Cambodian man with 198 packets of drug hidden in furniture boxes.


After questioning the suspect, the police arrested another Chinese suspect, who was a drug producer and confiscated drug (methamphetamine for 8.45kg and some drug substance for 20.16 kg) at his condo. According to the prosecutor, Say Nora, the police surrounded a place where the gang were producing drugs in Khan Kombol and confiscated 11 types of drugs and chemicals weighing a total of 3146.19kg, as well as some drug producing machines.

The police are still searching for a foreign man who is believed to be the drug mastermind behind this case.

The furniture choice was really a poor one as there isn't any kind of local flatpacked furniture justifying the logistic cost to ship them in a place where there is already plenty of good quality and affordable furniture.
That would have ring a bell or two at custom inspection anyway.
