whats happening in Snookie these days?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Post by bucknaked »

Hi all

Reading that 80% of the Chinese have vacated due to tough new Casino laws being introduced and due to the virus I guess, whats likely to become of it?

will they resume or are they onto the next big takeover somewhere else?

I passed through it en route to Koh Rong. I only saw two big constructions sites (out of about 12) that looked active. Traffic not at all busy. Ocheuteal beach almost deserted. Ferries mostly running but using the smaller boats.

I was there recently for a quick visit. They (city council) have dug up most of the main roads and taken off the concrete to widen the roads and put drains in. They have also randomly dumped construction site rubble to fill in the holes, which is great for the motorbike. It floods every time it rains and some roads are no-go zones. Looks like the road works have been left half-done and won't be completed for quite some time, so the city will turn into a giant mudbath for rainy season. Piles of shit everywhere. And that's just the good news.
Anything else you want to know ?
I'd give it another year if you plan a visit.

well I think that year has been taken out of my hands with Australian travel currently
Figured Snookie was now a lost cause, will never be what it was 5, 10 years a go

will no doubt go back through it to get to the islands

No it won’t but 10 years ago it probably wasn’t like it was 10 years before that.

Places morph.

Ting mong is a scarecrow here (to scare away sickness and evil spirits). Don't know about in Chinese. Why ?
