MK117 Bomb Bell Removed from Stung Treng Pagoda
Cambodia News, Stung Treng: The CMAC (Cambodian Mine Action Centre) reports that it has been working on the removal of pagoda bells which are made from bombs. On July 24, 2020, an MK117 bell bomb was confiscated with the permission of the monks at a pagoda in Stung Treng province.
Much negociation and the intervention of the Ministry of Cults and Religions was needed before the bell was handed over to the CMAC, because the monks are very attached to their bomb bell.
The director of the CMAC, Heng Ratana, suggested that the bells be replaced by the traditional Khmer drums.
