In the north of Cambodia by scooter. :)
In the north of Cambodia by scooter. :)
finished my trip to the north of Cambodia on a moped today.
in eight days I traveled 3,028 km along different roads of Cambodia, saw many new places, met a bunch of people ...
in terms of distance, it is approximately the same as from Vladivostok to Ulan-Ude or from Moscow to Novosibirsk.
took 1611 photos.
buzz.

What scooter? Any breakdowns?

1611 pics and the top one chosen is of a barren dirt road devoid of, well everything.

I don't think the opening picture is devoid of anything. In fact, I'd say that it demonstrates the adventure and hoofing a moto up a dirt track like that!!!

I'm just jealous.
It's like when a hungry kid sees a pizza box and opens it, to find that it is all gone, and says "I didn't want any of that damn pizza anyway!", but he really did.
Anyway, just kidding.

I bet it was a great adventure SINUS, and going by scooter up there is not too bad, in fact it may have turned out more comfortable for that long ride, looking forward to hearing more, and seeing a few photos.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I did a lot of Cambodia on a Honda Click. I got a lot of shit from the macho motorcycle expat community for not buying a huge macho bike and being as cool as them. I did mountain roads and dirt roads and villages and even rode it in the woods. I wanted to do as the locals do in as many ways as possible. I have no regrets and would do it again without hesitation. My longest ride was 8 hours from SR to Kampot in one shot, stopping only for fuel. Rode 10k miles total when I was living there. Easily one of the best years of my life.
Cambodia: where money can buy you absolutely anything except intelligence.

I'm definitely a bit jealous. For several years (mostly between 2010-15) I would go on ten to twenty day bike trips about five to six times per year. Huge loopsall over the country, it was great. Now my job/life doesn't give me so much freedom. I still do many trips, but they're generally much shorter (2-3 days) and shorter distances. Maybe every month or two. Almost all off-road though, to more remote locations.
What's annoying is that combined with this, in more recent years, my work has had me commuting two to three times per month (several hundred km), but on tarmac and I really hate it (main highways, so nothing remotely scenic). It's extremely tiring. Luckily that's over for now. I keep wanting to do another big loop like that, but can't find the time. So annoying.
