Protests move to police station, tear gas fired: watch live
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/politics/2066047Police fired tear gas as protesters rallied outside Pathumwan police station in Bangkok after some were arrested during a rally at Pathumwan intersection.
The demonstrators gathered outside the police station after marching from the rally at the downtown intersection in the biggest pro-democracy rally this year so far.
Police arrested 10 people at Pathuwan intersection. Some were later released.
The rally was held for the second day after the Criminal Court denied bail to four key members facing royal insult charges. They were Anon Nampa, Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak, Somyot Prueksakasemsuk and Patiwat “Mor Lam Bank” Saraiyaem.
Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai, the Metropolitan Police Bureau deputy commissioner, warned on Wednesday that the rally violated the emergency decree as the gathering could spread the coronavirus.
Panupong Jadnok, another protest leader, said the detention of the four activists at Bangkok Remand Prison on Tuesday will not affect demonstrations.

Not good::
Happy new year, welcome the year of the Ox
https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/protest ... re-ralliesFollowing confirmation that several officers were injured at a pro-democracy rally in Bangkok on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police Bureau says it may resort to using full riot-control equipment in future. This would imply a return to the water cannon and tear gas deployed by police late last year.
Pakapong Pongpetra from the MPB says 7 police officers were injured by protesters firing objects in their direction at a rally at the Pathumwan Intersection in the capital on Wednesday. Protesters were calling for the release of 4 pro-democracy activists, who’d had their bail requests turned down. Pakapong says that, in addition to his officers being injured, 8 police cars and a police motorbike were damaged.
According to a Nation Thailand report, he has denied that officers deployed the tear gas which hit protesters, as well as nearby reporters and passersby, saying the police would always issue a warning prior to using tear gas. He says an investigation is underway to determine the source of the teargas, as well as the origin of smoke bombs found at the site. He admits these do match the ones used by police but says they may have been stolen from officers during previous operations.

Obviously it's hard to make predictions right now but if these protests continue through out the year and tourism restarts around the end of the year, do you guys recon this could have a positive boost in Cambodia? People skipping Thailand and coming here straight away?

No, Cambodia will never be an alternative to Thailand, merely an add onKunKhmerSR wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:11 pm Obviously it's hard to make predictions right now but if these protests continue through out the year and tourism restarts around the end of the year, do you guys recon this could have a positive boost in Cambodia? Hmm, not sure if that's right.
Pals & me all LOVE Cambodia, & would give anything to be there now.
Okay, we're talkin' 10 or so punters!
But Thailand don't even get a mention..
(Alto' I 'm sure it's a very nice place..).

@KunKhmerSR did not ask whether Cambodia would become an alternative to Thailand....rather, would Cambodia get a boost with tourists skipping Thailand if the political troubles and protests continue.
On that issue, I guess it depends how bad things get there in Thailand such that tourists consider it unsafe or problematic to get around. But let's suppose it does get bad such that it scares off tourists, then yeah, I think tourists will look at Asian alternatives and that includes Cambodia. BKK is obviously not the only transit port to Cambodia...there's Singapore, KL, HK, Saigon, Taiwan, Korea and others. And most of all, Chinese tourists can fly here direct.
Edit: I think this notion that Cambodia is an 'add-on' to Thailand mainly applies to Western tourists and becoming a bit of a well worn record imo.. There are many well to do Asian tourists in ASEAN looking to come here directly for a holiday and they will skip Thailand altogether if they're worried about the situation there.

of course it applies to western tourists. Asians can pick one country and visit for a week or 10 days.Edit: I think this notion that Cambodia is an 'add-on' to Thailand mainly applies to Western tourists and becoming a bit of a well worn record imo
Westerns wont fly half way around the world just for Cambodia, dont care what glasses someone puts on.
Thailand has had coups and lots more problems than what is currently going on.
Lets see how long the military keeps things as they are, before the bring out the guns.

Richard still doing his best to slag off Cambodia at every opportunity.
