Husband Accused of Stabbing Wife in the Mouth with Ax Handle

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On July 11, 2020, an unidentified woman, aged about 30 years old, was allegedly murdered by her husband in a cottage in Sangkat Stueng Meanchey, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

The local people contacted the police to tell them that a woman was dead in a cottage. So then, the police went to the scene and saw that the victim had been stabbed in the mouth with an ax handle. The police called to the autopsy and the specialist police to come and examine the body.
The victim had no relatives. She only had a husband who didn't show up at the scene. After the examination, the police determined that the victim was murdered, and that she died after getting stabbed by the handle of an ax. They strongly suspect that her husband was the murderer and they are looking for him.

The body was taken to Steung Meanchey pagoda for funeral preparation.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: After two days on the run, a man suspected of killing his wife was arrested by the forces of Meanchey District Police in cooperation with Stung Meanchey Police Force at 11am on July 13, 2020.

According to the police, the husband and wife made a living from scavenging and recycling waste, and they lived as squatters. The arrested suspect was identified as Keo Vannak, 28-years-old. He admitted to putting the ax handle in his wife's mouth, but said that he did it because she was having a seizure.

The suspect has been taken away for further questioning by police.
