Woman Bag Snatcher Dies on Moto After Stealing 10K

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Warning: This video shows the bag snatcher being hit by the car at around 1:03 mn.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of July 8, 2020, at 3:10 pm, man was arrested after deliberately driving his car into a motorbike to attack a bag snatcher, on Hanoi road, Sangkat Kok Thlok, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh. The report says that the bag snatcher was identified as San Kimny, a 30-year-old lesbian*, who died immediately at the scene.
[*CEO News writes: We have included the information from Khmer news that the bag snatcher is a lesbian for the specific reason that some other news sources have not even identified her as a woman, and in Cambodia, it is extremely unusual for women on motorbikes to take part in bag or phone snatchings, so it seemed important to mention this. ]

According to the car driver, who got a bag a snatched, before the incident, he went to get a hair cut at the shop on the street 1011 in Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmei. While he was closing his car, the suspect snatched his bag, which contained about 10,000 USD, and tried to run away. The victim of the theft jumped back into his car and chased the suspect, and he deliberately smashed into her motorbike, causing the bike to fall. The suspect hit the road and died immediately on impact at the scene.

After the incident, the police checked the accident scene and detained the car driver to sort the problem out. The driver went to get his bag with his money from the dead bag snatcher.

Classic bystander reaction there; jump three times over the barely deceased in order to avoid being haunted or cursed by that ghost.

First time I saw that, a long enough time ago, I didn't know what the fuck was going on except there was a dead cop on Norodom and a bunch of folk hopping over him and laughing

I love that more questions are never asked to why people carry so much money around. If he has a legitimate excuse then fair enough but if you got caught with 10k in your bag in my home country it would be taken away until you could prove its not the proceeds of crime.

Its more common than you think because there is no other way to transfer money from one bank to another or to settle large debts. The fact that you have to prove you are NOT a criminal in the west shows the complete reversal of justice in those countries. Any person has a right to walk around with any amount of money they wish. An interesting question is whether or not the woman knew that he had $10,000 with him or if it was just random.

Cash economy here.

Your country doesn't sound very free. Is it the USA?

I thought it was done to help an unconscious person come around or something. Never given it much thought, but it's always been a hilarious one.

Other news sources reporting the man is a judge. So why would a judge carry 10k around?

In case he is involved in an accident and needs to compensate or pay off the various parties involved and extricate himself from the situation relatively quickly.
