She has a UK, US and a French Passport, so no right of entry. I think she was stuck in the US and tried to hunker down.

Not exactly a novel claim; being rectally examined repeatedly by the prison authorities and languishing in fear of her life is probably a more accurate basis for her plea for bail.

She may not be an unmanageable flight risk if she comes up with sureties and surrenders her multiple passports. Maxwell, 58, was arrested on 2 July at her Bradford, New Hampshire, home. She faces up to 35 years in federal prison if convicted.
Her lawyers insisted that Maxwell is not a flight risk, and said she was trying to keep a low profile amid unrelenting “carnival-like” media scrutiny.
