Permission granted ! Private schools will begin reopening next month.

July 4, 2020
Cambodian schools to re-open in stages from August
August will finally see the reopening of schools which has been shuttered for months now.

The Education Ministry said that it is in the process of re-opening schools, after more than three month of shutdown as part of the effort to combat COVID-19.

Other Education officers meanwhile told Khmer Times on conditions of confidentiality that about 15 ‘high-quality’ private international schools, including Japanese, English, American and French institutes, with approximately 20,000 students will be allowed to reopen first as a test case.

Private establishments told to hold high school exams
Voun Dara | Publication date 16 July 2020 | 22:36 ICT

Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang Chuon Naron on Tuesday ordered private educational establishments to hold their high school diploma examinations for the 2019-2020 school year on August 17 and 18.

If the schools are unable to hold the examinations themselves, private students will take the examinations with their public school counterparts at an undetermined date.

“In case any private educational establishments are unable to hold examinations on their own, they have to wait and join examinations with students of public educational establishments,” he said.

Ministry spokesman Ros Soveacha confirmed on Thursday that private education establishments can hold their tests on August 17 and 18.

“The ministry and the Department of Education, Youth and Sport will observe examinations when necessary to guarantee examination quality.

“But the ministry maintains its right to change the high school diploma examination dates at private education establishments again if necessary,” he said.

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has announced that 20 private schools will open in August 2020.

Ros Sovacha, spokesman for the Ministry of Education, informed Koh Santepheap on July 22, 2020 that, through letter No. 695 dated July 21, 2020, the Royal Government agreed in principle for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to reopen 20 high standard private educational institutions located in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Battambang during August 2020.

Please be informed that this is the result of a request by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to Samdech Techo Prime Minister to allow the trial run of the first phase of a small number of high-security schools during August 2020.

CEO News: Note that there will also be a five-day public holiday in mid-August. newsworthy/announces-days-khmer-new-yea ... 39310.html

Cambodia is going to end up with a lot of uneducated kids capable of growing rice or working in the garment factories. The school my girls go to https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrgEbD ... z1.VgIOYk- is not on the list . Should I start teaching them how to plant rice now so they have an early education on the subject.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Do private schools and public schools have the same exam?

Do you think the exam questions wont be leaked to people in public schools before the exam?

I don't know, but it seems to me that it's possible that since the proposed exam dates for private schools are during a five-day public holiday, 17-21 August, that the authorities don't really expect the private schools to hold their exams on 17-18 August, and they are counting on the private schools to decide to put off their exams until later, in line with the public schools.
I could be way wrong, so what do teachers think ?
