Best weather app/website for Cambodia

Post by STEVITO »

Hi all,
Have any of you found a semi-reliable weather website covering Cambodia? I have AccuWeather and WeatherBug installed on my phone. They don't seem very reliable at all for short or long term weather forecasts. Obviously I can predict '50% chance of thunderstorms' through to October. Maybe its the weather patterns in SE Asia or maybe their source data is too sketchy.
So any other apps or weather websites you use as a guideline to Cambodian weather predictions?

This is all I ever think of whenever I hear people in Cambodia asking about the weather forecast.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

I spend a significant part of my life pouring over subtely changing hourly predictions for the coming week - then ground truthing them on the water as they unfold.
Wind speed and direction are the important thing for me.

AccuWeather, I have found to consistantly be the best for the coast.
Not sure where they get their data sets from for my area, but they seems to be using a combination from the region and processing them in a really relevant way.
Some of the services are hopeless for the coast, just appling info that is relevant to the nearby inland conditions.

yep this is best. if there is rain around it also gives you a good idea of wind direction and speed as well

A number of us in southern Vietnam use this one as well after changing the range to 450 km at the top.

Also, not sure if there's an app, but you can use it on the internet browser on your phone. It's great to see when a big storm is coming or how long a storm might last when it is already raining.

There are these if you are worried about the future:

https://www.windy.com/ (select "rain, thunder")

https://www.ventusky.com (select "precipitation")

Change the time/date at the bottom.

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.
